Mahler Symphony No. 2, "Resurrection"

The Reston Chorale and the Fairfax Choral Society join the Fairfax Symphony Orchestra in a performance of Mahler's spectacular Symphony No.2, "Resurrection." A step beyond Beethoven's 9th, "Resurrection" is a musical journey which speaks of the human condition in all its complexities and paradoxes and touches on the nature of existence, religion, and the afterlife. According to Zimmerman, "only Mahler could embrace such an ambitious agenda and succeed in producing one of the most exciting, beautiful and exultant works that has yet been written." Jeanine Thames is the soprano soloist, and Janine Hawley is the mezzo-soprano soloist.
