A Seasonal Celebration

The concert will feature a premiere for chorus and orchestra by Virginia composer Daniel E. Gawthrop entitled Peace of Heaven as well as David Ott's 'Twas the Night Before Christmas accompanied by orchestra. We will also be singing the fan favorite Craig Courtney's A Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of Christmas as well as selections from Handel's Messiah. Bring your holiday spirit and join us for a wonderful evening of music and holiday cheer!

"American Patchwork"

Enjoy the music of great American composers such as Dave Brubeck, Aaron Copland and George Gershwin. Brubeck selections with diverse titles such as Dusk, The Dream Keeper, Hold Fast to Dreams and Boogie 1 a.m have texts by Langston Hughes, the highly esteemed poet associated with the movement known as The Harlem Renaissance, "the flowering of African-American literature and music in New York City". Copland favorites will include Stomp Your Foot, The Little Horses, The Promise of Living and others. Rounding out a wonderful evening of music will be the arrangements of Gershwin classics, Embraceable You and I Got Rhythm. Be sure to join the Chorale for an evening of music guaranteed to delight all music lovers.
