We encourage singers interested in joining a dynamic, local chorus to join The Reston Chorale!

The exciting 2012 season will include the Chorale's annual Pops Concert, and end the season with a concert with the Washington Balalaika Society Orchestra.

The Reston Chorale auditions are designed to provide information of the applicant's understanding of the language of music. Prepared excerpts and sight reading will be required.

The musical excerpts to prepare for your audition are:

• "And He Shall Purify" from Messiah - G.F. Handel (measures 1-25)

• "How Lovely Is Thy Dwelling Place" from A German Requiem - J. Brahms (Movement IV, measures 85-124). You may choose either the English or German language version.
  This Brahms English version has the choir parts only (without the piano accompaniment underneath.)

The Chorale rehearses on Tuesday nights from 7:30 - 10:00 at the Reston Community Center, Hunters Woods. Annual Chorale dues for 2011-2012 are $175. Music for each segment is available for purchase at each rehearsal. The cost of music usually runs between $13 and $18 per segment. The Reston Chorale women's concert gown can be purchased from our costume coordinator for $100. Women also wear floor length black skirts with white or jewel toned blouses, black hose and black shoes. Men are responsible for their own tuxedos with two bow ties and cummerbunds; one black and one red.
